Detailed Location
To reach Bowside from the south, take the A9 from Inverness and at Helmsdale take the A897 through the Strath of Kildonan, following the River Helmsdale upstream and over the watershed down through Strath Halladale, turning left onto the A836, the main coast road.
Heading west, pass through Melvich and onto Strathy (approx. 5 miles). As you enter the village, you will see a road on the left sign posted Strathy West; take this road, going past several dwellings, onto the well maintained forestry track.
After about 2.7 miles, Bowside Lodge and the Bothy are to be found on the right with the Gamekeeper’s Cottage on the left, all clearly signed. The location lends itself to total privacy. The configuration of the accomodations provides for 2/3 separate parties or families to socialise at will, but also to preserve their privacy, such as they would like.
